Walk on the heights of Honfleur

Certainly one of the most beautiful walks in Normandy. Not to be missed if you visit Honfleur.

This walk is a must if you are passing through Honfleur. Going up to the Mont-Joli you will be able to dominate the whole region, including the Pont de Normandie, the estuary of the Seine and the city of Honfleur in one glance. The walk is not very long but the climb to the Mont-Joli is quite severe. You can go up to the plateau and visit the chapel by car, but parking is not easy in high season and it disturbs the quietness of the place.

The Old Basin

The Old Basin — The hike begins next to the Old Basin. A plaque commemorates the departure of Samuel de Champlain from Honfleur for New France, aboard the "Don de Dieu" on April 13, 1608. Samuel de Champlain founded Quebec City on July 3 of the same year.
