Gally's farm

Pick your own fruits and vegetables! La ferme de Gally is located in Saint-Cyr in the Yvelines, 30 minutes from the center of Paris.

La ferme de Gally is a very old farm located not far from the Château de Versailles. Today it gathers several activities: games for children, stores, fields for picking. You can't come to the farm by public transport, you need a car, there are not many signposts, be careful the parking lots are not very big if you arrive too late on the weekend you will be obliged to leave your car along the road (there are many people). The farm is made up of two parts, one includes the store and the other the picking part in the fields. It is very difficult to connect the two parts on foot, you have to take the car if you want to pick and visit the store.

Picking does not start until March/April, it is not always easy to know the season of vegetables and fruits. This table can help you.

There's a garden centre in the shop, as well as a henhouse where you can adopt laying hens or collectors' hens.

Harvesting

You have to get back in the car to go to the picking fields a few hundred metres away. Prices are announced at the entrance. When you leave, you pay for what you have harvested. You won't find tomatoes in May, and picking is not possible during the coldest months (the site is closed). Picking is only possible from spring onwards.

Tips

You can rent a wheelbarrow (deposit 5 euros) to collect your pickings. Of course you are not allowed to taste on the spot, there are video cameras.

Salads

The plantations are not "organic" but the domain works in reasoned agriculture which means that the farmers use the best techniques to limit the use of chemicals. It is better to bring appropriate shoes because the ground can be very muddy if it has rained.

The fields

The picking part is open to everyone, there is no entrance fee. It's a nice idea for a Sunday outing and you'll have the satisfaction of harvesting what you eat. Moreover, you will be hungry because you have to walk 2 kilometers to get a salad, a strawberry tray and a zucchini.
