The Burgundy wine route to discover the most prestigious wines of Burgundy: Volnay, Pommard, Aloxe-Corton, Nuits-Saint-Georges...

The Burgundy wine route (La route des vins in French) is a road between Dijon and Santenay. You need a car for this tour because the wine route is about 40 miles long. You can also choose the bike but there is not a lot of bicycle paths and the road traffic is pretty intense. The villages are scattered on a band of two miles around the main road. Some villages don't deserve a visit, apart from the Church and the village square there is nothing to see: Volnay, Pernand-Vergelesses (295 inhabitants)...

Town that you can't miss: Beaune, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Meursault, Aloxe-Corton and Vougeot (for the Castle).

Almost every winemaker in Burgundy propose a wine tastings, if you're only a simple wine lover prefer the visits in the big towns where every thing is well organised for the tourists: Beaune cellars, Nuits-Saint-Georges or Meursault.
