The Bagatelle Park

A walk in the Bagatelle park famous for its rose garden

The Bagatelle Park is located in the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. The Bois de Boulogne is not easily accessible by public transport, to get to Bagatelle you need to take a bus or walk about fifteen minutes from the "Pont de Neuilly" station. There are plenty of parking spaces right in front of the main entrance, but it may be difficult to find a spot on Sundays. The entrance to the park is free except during the peak season from April to September when you will need to pay 2.6 euros.

The Bagatelle castle
The history of this small castle is interesting. In 1775 the Count of Artois bought the house in the Bagatelle park. Marie-Antoinette came to visit it and found the house too run down. She took a bet with the Count that he would not be able to build a new castle before his return from his trip two months later. The Count hired 900 workers and spent a fortune to win his bet. 60 days later the castle was built.
