The park and the castle of Chantilly

A visit to the park and the castle of Chantilly located 30 minutes from Paris.

The castle of Chantilly is located 30-40 minutes from Paris by car. The visit presented here focuses on the park and the castle. You can also visit the Grandes Ecuries, as Chantilly is famous for its equestrian activities. There is also a racecourse just next door where great horse races take place, such as the Prix de Diane in June.

It should be noted that unlike other castles the visit of the park is not free. To visit the park and the castle, you will need to pay 17 euros, including the Grandes Ecuries where you can attend a horse show (4 euros extra).

The castle and the park are worth a visit, do not hesitate to make the trip despite the high rates of the visits.

The park was designed by Le Nôtre, we find his style with the perspectives, the flowerbeds, the canal ... The dimensions of the park remain at human size and makes its visit very pleasant. Be careful, even the visit of the park is not free (8 euros). You might as well go to Versailles, it's more beautiful and it's free!

The hamlet

The hamlet
Creating a small farming village was fashionable (see Versailles and Rambouillet). It is not known exactly if whipped cream was created here but several princes and princesses in the 18th century testify to a famous cream served at snacks.

The labyrinth

The labyrinth
Labyrinths were also fashionable in the 17th century. In 1668, guests were told that dessert would be served in the centre of the labyrinth! The park gardeners have recreated one for the pleasure of young and old alike.
