Discovering Cap Ferret

What a disappointment this walk in Cap Ferret was!

The reputation of Cap Ferret is well established. Newspapers and films have shaped a positive image of Cap Ferret over the years. We meet between young and well-to-do friends in an idyllic place around a bowl of oysters and a glass of wine. Unfortunately the reality is quite different... Our vision of Cap Ferret differs from most of the other tourist guides. Nothing seduced us in Cap Ferret. Of course we were only passing through for a day, if we had spent a week in a rich villa the impression would surely be completely different. We still think that the reputation of Cap Ferret is totally overrated, it lacks a unity, a coherence to this place. There are much more beautiful villages along the Atlantic coast.
