A beautiful walk near the lake of Serre-Ponçon in the Hautes-Alpes
The marmite des géants (the giant's cauldron in English) is a geological phenomenon located on the hamlet of Gourniers in the Hautes-Alpes, it is a large waterfall where the water swirls. A very nice educational trail of 30 minutes allows you to discover the environment around the kettle. The walk is really worth a look. The road to Les Gourniers is narrow but the access remains easy. The walk is short and interesting with many explanatory panels. The path is perfect for those who don't want to embark on a 4 hour hike in the mountains, however if you have time you can continue the walk as Les Gourniers is the starting point of many hikes. Not to be missed if you visit the region.
