The leisure center of the Val de Seine in Vernouillet

The Val de Seine leisure center is located in the Yvelines, 1h15 from the center of Paris.

There are many leisure bases in Ile-de-France (Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Cergy-Pontoise...). The base of the Val de Seine is located west of Paris, in Verneuil-sur-Seine to be precise, it is only accessible by car. There is a lake for swimming and you can also walk along the Seine. The entrance is free during the low season but from the weekends in May you have to pay 4,60 euros per person. The environment around the base is quite nice, there is even an airfield right next to it. The walk around the base and along the Seine is far from being exceptional. To be recommended if you are in the area and if you want to swim in summer.

The marina

The base includes a marina. By boat you can reach Le Havre in less than two days. Like many ports it is always full.

The water level

The water is not very big, the sailing base is not located on the same water as the swimming. You have to take the car and go a little further if you want to go sailing. There is a succession of ponds along the Seine, the other ponds are free but swimming is forbidden.

The beach

The beach is large and the water is very clear, swimming is allowed and supervised from weekends in May (the entrance is no longer free).

The picnic area

There are many tables to picnic, the environment is not extraordinary. The wheelie garbage cans in the middle of the tables are not the best effect.

Accommodation

We can sleep on the spot because there are rooms, it is not the great luxury, the majority have collective toilets on the other hand it is not expensive (20 euros for a room of 4 beds). The restaurants are also not very high end, there is a cafeteria and a snack bar that offers take-away food. The buildings could use a little rejuvenation.

You can go around the lake, the path is very well suited to the practice of mountain biking in family.

The miniature golf course costs 4.30 euros, and you can also rent a tennis court (9 euros per hour). A day with children can be expensive.

If you just want to walk without practicing a sport activity, you can go a little far along the Seine to find much more beautiful places (La Roche-Guyon, Château-Gaillard...)
