Walk in the forest of Montmorency

A nice walk around the ponds of the Montmorency forest, 1 hour from the center of Paris.

The forest of Montmorency is not really located in Montmorency but a little bit more in the north, it is not very easy of access because there are no big roads to go there, it is necessary to take its time on the small roads of the Val d'Oise. You can easily park your car because there is a large parking lot right next to the ponds. The walk is very easy, very busy too and there are no difficulties on the way. It is a good idea for a Sunday afternoon outing.

The Castle of the Hunt

The origins of the Chateau de la Chasse are very old as they date back to the 12th century. For a long time it served as a hunting lodge for the lords of the area. It then fell into oblivion and was bought by the Office des Forêts which restored it. The castle is not open to the public except for exceptional openings. The roofs of the towers no longer exist and have been replaced by these curious sloping roofs which give an original aspect to the castle. One has the impression of being in front of a contemporary creation but it is a castle of the Middle Ages.

The philosophers' path

At the end of the pond begins a short 2.5 kilometer walk called "the philosophers' path". It is marked out with stages intended to make us think about the meaning of life! For once the path is very well marked and very easy to follow, it is a small loop in the forest. To be seen.
