Tour of the lake at Enghien-les-Bains

This hike starts from the beautiful lake of Enghien and ends at the North lake

The walk is very accessible, as Enghien SNCF station is located right next to the lake. Trains run every half-hour (depending on the season) from the Gare du Nord. As well as walking, you can also enjoy pedal-boating and sailing on Lac d'Enghien. It's a great suggestion for a leisurely stroll on a Sunday afternoon.

Practical information

Departure from Enghien Casino

The departure is in front of the casino theater of Enghien, the only casino of Ile-de-France. The entrance is paying and it is not given, it is necessary to pay at least 12 euros for the entrance!

Beltway Avenue

We leave in direction of the North lake by passing the Avenue of Belt. The road does not allow to make the turn by remaining on the banks. They are private properties which border the lake. Too bad!

Public garden near the villa du lac

The public garden near the villa du lac offers the most beautiful panorama on the lake of Enghien. Moreover, it is much less frequented than the other side of the lake.

Promenade Eric Tabarly

One arrives at the end of the lake of Enghien. One often finds fishermen at this place. The North lake will be on the right.

Beginning of the North Lake

The North lake is in the continuity of the lake of Enghien. Much smaller than the main lake, it extends over the towns of Saint-Gratien and Soissy-sous-Montmorency.

The North Lake seen from the promenade

The lake is surrounded by villas in a different style from the lake of Enghien. A small bridge separating the two lakes can be seen on the left.

Overview of the North end of the lake

At the end of the walk, you can see the end of the lake. From this point, you have to take a street that goes away from the lake.

Small bridge on the lake

The small bridge marks the beginning of the return journey. The lake is prolonged by a small channel which does not present much interest.

Back to the lake

After the bridge, we cross a small very pleasant street lined with villas which give on the lake. One returns on the lake of Enghien.

The walk ends with a return on the lake of Enghien. You can see the casino at the end on the left. One returns either by the same way, or by the other bank.
