Houlgate and the Vaches Noires cliff

A short walk from the beach of Houlgate to the cliff of the Vaches Noires.

The hike allows us to discover the charming town of Houlgate which is located between Deauville and Cabourg. After walking along the beach, we go up a little to have a nice view on the region. The hike is short (1h) but you have to climb many steps to reach the top of the cliff.

The arrival at the top of the cliff
The cliff of the black cows owes its name to the rocks which fall from the cliff. These are then covered with seaweed during the tides and in the distance they look like black cows. The return to Houlgate is done by the same way.

The shopping street

The shopping street
Houlgate is a smaller seaside resort than its neighbors Cabourg, Dives-sur-Mer and Deauville, so there is less choice in restaurants and shops.
