Discovering the Chausey Islands

The Chausey islands are located in Normandy, a few kilometers from Granville.

The Chausey Islands are a must-see if you are in the area. You must of course take the boat to go to the Chausey islands - timetable of the connections. The landing stage is located on the big island (the only one that can be visited), then it is not difficult to find your way around because the island is relatively small, if you walk fast you can go around in less than two hours! The crossing to the Chausey Islands takes one hour from Granville. The fare for one person is quite high: 26,1 euros. You can get your tickets before boarding at the ferry terminal, there is also a store in the city center. The departure times change every day depending on the tides.

The fort was built in 1866 but was disarmed by 1906, it never played an important military role and is not visited. In 2015 a completely naked couple was found lifeless in the moat of the fort. They fell from the top of the ramparts during a lovemaking session!

Going up to the top of Chausey Island, you can find a store, a bar and a hotel restaurant. Because of the insularity of the island, the prices are quite high, the first menu of the restaurant is 27 euros. It is better to book because it is very crowded in high season.
