Colmar is a picturesque town in the historic Alsace region of eastern France. The House of Heads

This building, erected in 1609, takes its name from the large number of sculpted heads adorning its façade. Today, it houses the Colmar Wine Exchange. The statue of the cooper crowning the building was created by Bartholdi, the famous Colmar sculptor best known for creating the Statue of Liberty. Bartholdi was born in Colmar, and his museum is also open to visitors.

The Issenheim Altarpiece

Here is the jewel of the Unterlinden museum : the Issenheim altarpiece. The whole room is occupied by these painted panels which fit into each other. These very paintings are still difficult to understand for the uninitiated.

The convent turned museum in Colmar
