Visit of the most beautiful ruins of France: the abbey of Jumièges

On the road to Normandy from Paris, you can make a small detour to visit the abbey of Jumièges.

The abbey of Jumièges was founded in 654 by Saint Philibert, it knew its golden age at the time of the duchy of Normandy. Then it declined and was sold after the Revolution to be transformed into stone quarry. It was saved from complete destruction in 1852 by the Lepel-Cointet family. Today only ruins remain and paradoxically this is what makes the charm of this abbey. The ruins are majestic and incite to contemplation and meditation. You should take your time to visit this abbey and not hesitate to sit on a bench or a chair to better admire the ruins.

If you are less sensitive to the charm of the place, the park and the abbey are not very large and can be visited in half an hour. The entrance fee is €7.
